Hey guys! As you may or may not have been aware of, this event was part of The Landing Challenge, a contest being held by MUN (Which was why it was at a retarded hour).

We won! Go Geeks!

This means we have a bit of extra change in our coffers to the tune of $1000! Now, we're not about to spend it all in one place, but we're looking for ideas of how to use it wisely!

Some ideas so far:
Invest in movies for our bad movie nights.
A decent router so we can host LANs (still gotta bring your own computer)
Pizza and cookies!

Remember, any uses has to benefit the society as a whole :) Brain storm away!

:O

That . . . is awesome.

I'll ask some geeky friends for ideas on what could be bought for a club of geeks, I have none myself.

I still think we should blow it all on booze and hookers...

Although that idea have it's merits, (ie: Booze), I would think a more permanent investment might be wiser.

You could also use that money more slowly for free food at events, prizes for competitions, etc.
Or for that matter, fund a party for the Geek Society at Hooked Up, and such things.

It might be useful, if only a small purchase, to buy electronics like an external hard drive or thumb drives, since you often host media events. (Star wars showing, B-movies, Dr. Horrible). Although, given that most of those are on DVD's or VHS's, that wouldn't help much.

On that note though, a B-movie library compiled from garage sales and DVD re-releases might not be a bad idea.

I don't think I've suggested anything new, but that was pretty much all the worthwhile suggestions we came up with ;p

We probably will be investing in some "awesome" (read: terrible) movies. So any suggestions on that front are welcome!

Some of the fund will definitely go into winter-een-mas. We're also looking at having a massive movie showing in the fall at Empire, though that won't be free. One thing having this chunk of change is nice for is investing in large projects like that without so much fear of personal loss. I have to call the theater tomorrow and figure out how such a thing would run.

We might also *dun dun dun* finally do t-shirts!!
